Joakim Hill (1783 - 1869), Flemington, NJ Mahogany Tall Case Clock. Broken-arch pediment with inlaid oval crotch mahogany panels in the waist door and base panel all resting on high style French feet. Eight Day striking brass clock works with seconds bit, calendar and moon phase dial. 95" tall. This clock descended in the Thompson and Carpenter families of the Delaware Valley and surfaced for sale at a public Auction in NYC in the 1980s at Christies where it was purchased by a collector from Washington DC where it happily marked time for almost 30yrs in a Georgetown DC townhouse. We acquired the clock last year and recently completed the conservation. A textbook example of one of the wonderful examples from Hunterdon Co. NJ, Flemington. You might not realize that my very first clock shop opened in the 1970s in Flemington and we were very fortunate to handle a number of great examples by Joakim Hill. The movement has been serviced and the clock runs and strikes fine. The clock comes with the original winding crank. Even the pulleys are original !
